The Tranky Doo is a routine that was performed by a Club De Lisa Chorus Girl during the 1940s in Chicago. Dancers took this routine and added some of their own steps and some extra flair to create a classic Jazz routine.
The Spirit Moves version of the Tranky Doo featured on this DVD (recorded in 2007) incorporates steps by Al Minns, Leon James and Pepsi Bethal. These dancers created a different sequence from the Frankie Manning Version (also available in our Shop). By learning both versions of the Tranky Doo, you will add a large array of Jazz steps to your Lindy repertoire.
